Very little maintained is required for a few reasons:

  • The brushless DC submersible motor used in Mono solar systems has no brushes or rotor position sensors, which means there's no ongoing motor maintenance required.
  • The helical rotor pump design has minimal parts and is very reliable with little to no maintenance.

The main thing to keep an eye on is keeping your solar panels clean and free of shade. We'd recommend a periodic system check every year or two, but these systems are built to run reliably with minimal intervention.

Yes — solar pumps are designed to keep working in overcast conditions, just at a reduced flow rate. The Mono SUN-RAY pump end operates at low speeds which maximises water output across the whole day, including during cloudy periods. The solar motor controller also uses variable speed control to make the most of whatever solar power is available.
